Binary Era • Laxi Launcher Manual • Updated September 2026
Welcome to the Laxi Launcher comprehensive guide. Laxi Launcher is a distraction-free,
text-driven Android home screen engineered for speed, privacy, and zero telemetry. This manual details every
configuration option, gesture action, typography setting, background pattern, text shadow parameter, and troubleshooting resolution.
If the Uninstall button is grayed out in Android Settings, you have activated the
Screen Lock Gesture or Sleep Shortcut. Depending on your Android
version, either the Accessibility Service or Device Administrator must
be deactivated before Android permits removal. See Section 10 or FAQ Question 1 for the
quick steps.
1. Architecture & Core Philosophy
Laxi Launcher replaces conventional, attention-grabbing app icon grids with an interactive typographical word
canvas:
Dynamic Text Scaling: Apps grow or shrink progressively depending on how often you
launch them using a logarithmic growth formula (ln(launchCount + 1)). Essential tools stand
out automatically while rarely used apps stay compact.
Dynamic System Intent Resolution: On first launch, the launcher resolves system
defaults for Phone, SMS, Browser, Camera, Email, Maps, Gallery, Files, and Clock via Android intent
queries to seed your initial word cloud without hardcoding OEM packages.
100% Offline Integrity: The launcher contains zero network telemetry, tracking pixels,
or remote analytics frameworks. Your launch history and package data never leave your phone.
Fast Cold Boot: Uses a sandboxed local disk cache (apps_cache.json) that
renders instantaneously at device reboot while quietly reconciling system changes in the background.
2. Gestures Reference
Laxi Launcher comes equipped with multi-touch gestures designed for quick, fluid one-handed navigation. Every gesture can be customized to trigger specific launcher workflows or launch any installed application:
Access search by performing a 2-finger swipe down gesture or selecting Search Apps from
the home menu:
Instant Scoring & Ranking: Apps are scored in real time with zero keystroke lag.
Matches prioritize exact matches (Score: 100), prefixes (Score: 80), acronyms/initials like
yt for YouTube (Score: 50–75), and word boundaries (Score: 60).
Quick Launch (Enter Key): Pressing the keyboard return or check action immediately
opens the top-ranked application.
Hidden App Inclusion: Tap the [Hidden] badge inside the search bar to toggle [Hidden: ON] and search hidden applications without opening the full management screen.
4. Fonts & Typography
Under Launcher Settings → Apps Settings, customize your home screen typography:
Built-in & System Fonts: Choose between System Default, Monospace, Serif, Sans
Serif, and system font variants installed on your firmware.
Import Custom Fonts: Tap + Import in the Font Picker to load your own .ttf or .otf font files directly via Android's Storage Access Framework. Imported fonts are safely sandboxed locally.
Font Case Transformer: Cycle between Original, Titlecase,
Lowercase, or Uppercase.
Font Size Ranges: Set minimum and maximum font boundaries (10sp to 72sp) for dynamic
scaling, or turn on Uniform App Size to lock all labels to an identical scale.
Horizontal & Vertical Margins: Fine-tune padding between text labels from 0dp to
32dp to achieve a compact cloud or an airy layout.
5. Text Shadow & GPU Effects
Enhance legibility over complex wallpapers or patterns using the Label Shadows picker under Apps Settings:
Shadow Toggle: Easily switch label text shadows ON or OFF globally or per-app.
Blur Radius: Adjust shadow softness from 0.0dp (crisp edge) to 16.0dp (soft ambient glow).
Width & Height Scaling: Scale shadow dimensions independently from 0.5x to 3.0x.
Offset Coordinates: Shift shadow position horizontally (Offset X: -10dp to +10dp) and vertically (Offset Y: -10dp to +10dp).
Shadow Color: Choose an explicit custom shadow color or rely on adaptive contrast resolution.
6. Per-App Customization (Label Settings)
Long-press any individual application name on your home screen to open its menu and select Label Settings:
Rename: Change an app's display title directly. Leave the rename input empty and save to reset back to its system name.
Individual Color: Apply a custom color to a single app label.
Match App Icon Color: Automatically extracts vibrant accent colors from the application's actual app icon.
First Letter Color: Highlight the initial letter of an app label with an accent color.
Individual Font & Case: Override global launcher fonts and casing on a per-app basis.
Individual Font Size: Pin an exact font size (10sp–72sp) to an app, overriding dynamic launch-frequency scaling.
Individual Text Shadow: Apply custom text shadow parameters exclusively to that specific app.
7. Hidden Apps Management
Keep unused utilities or private apps hidden from your home screen:
Hiding an App: Long-press any app label and tap Hide.
Viewing Hidden Apps: Perform a two-finger swipe up gesture or select Show Hidden Apps from the home menu.
Batch Hidden Apps Manager: Select Hide Apps from the menu to open a searchable multi-select screen. Filter by Show: All, Show: Hidden, or Show: Visible to hide or unhide multiple apps at once.
8. Wallpaper, Colors & Background Patterns
Customize your canvas under Launcher Settings → Background Settings:
Wallpaper Mode: Tap Wallpaper to select your system wallpaper. Laxi Launcher renders wallpaper with complete transparency.
Dim Wallpaper: Apply an adjustable dimming overlay (0% to 80% opacity) over system wallpaper to boost text legibility.
Solid Background Color: Choose any solid background color using the RGB/HSV/Hex color picker.
Background Patterns: Choose from GPU-rendered background canvas patterns including Dot Grid, Staggered Dots, Plus Grid, Line Grid, Diagonal Stripes, Diamond Mesh, Honeycomb Grid, Radial Rings, and Carbon Mesh.
Pattern Settings: Fine-tune pattern opacity, scale (dp), line stroke width (dp), and custom pattern colors.
9. Shortcuts & Home Screen Menus
Sleep Shortcut: Enable the Sleep Shortcut in Launcher Settings to create a dedicated label named Sleep on your canvas that locks your device when tapped.
Search Shortcut: Enable the Search Shortcut to place a dedicated Search label on your home canvas for instant search access.
Home Screen Menu: Long-press any empty canvas space to open the home menu. Access Launcher Settings, Set as Default Launcher, Refresh App List, and Manage Hidden Apps.
Refresh App List: Forces an immediate package synchronization if newly installed or updated apps do not immediately appear.
10. Uninstalling & Screen Lock Permissions
If you have enabled screen-locking gestures or the Sleep shortcut, Android requires revoking the associated
lock permission before allowing normal uninstallation:
To deactivate and uninstall cleanly:
On Android 9.0 and Higher (Accessibility Service):
Open device Settings → Accessibility.
Tap Installed apps (or Downloaded apps / Accessibility
Services).
Select Laxi Launcher and toggle it OFF.
On Older Android Versions or Device Admin mode:
Open device Settings → Security → Device
admin apps.
Locate Laxi Launcher and toggle it OFF / Deactivate.
You can now uninstall Laxi Launcher normally through the Google Play Store or device Settings.
11. In-App Support, Pro Unlock & Billing Policy
Google Play Billing API: All transactions are executed exclusively through official
Google Play In-App Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING). We never collect or handle credit
card details, UPI IDs, or banking credentials.
Pro Unlock & Tip Jar: Users can voluntarily send tips or unlock Pro customization features to support independent software development.
Refund Policy: In-app purchases are managed through Google Play. Refunds must be submitted directly via Google Play Order History under standard Google Play guidelines.
Security Warning: Genuine builds process purchases strictly inside Google Play. If any build presents external payment links, crypto wallets, or third-party web portals, it is an unauthorized counterfeit build.
12. Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I uninstall Laxi Launcher if the uninstall button is grayed out?
If uninstallation is disabled, revoke the active lock service first:
Android 9+: Go to device Settings →
Accessibility → Installed apps → turn
Laxi Launcher OFF.
Older versions: Go to Settings →
Security → Device admin apps → deactivate
Laxi Launcher.
Return to Google Play or Settings → Apps and uninstall normally.
2. Why does Laxi Launcher request the Accessibility Service?
On Android 9 and newer, Android provides no standard public API to lock the screen without
disrupting biometric unlock (fingerprint and face unlock) other than the AccessibilityService
GLOBAL_ACTION_LOCK_SCREEN action. Laxi Launcher runs 100% offline, inspects no window
content, reads no keystrokes, and gathers zero personal data.
3. How are in-app support options processed, and what is your refund policy?
Payment Processing: All in-app transactions are processed entirely by
Google Play In-App Billing. The developer does not process or hold
financial credentials, credit cards, or bank accounts.
Refunds: Purchases are handled by Google Play. Any refund requests must be initiated directly through your Google Play Order History under Google Play's standard policies.
Warning on Counterfeit Versions: Tips and Pro unlocks are managed exclusively through Google Play In-App Billing. If your app provides external web links or third-party payment gateways, it is not our genuine application.
4. How do I set Laxi Launcher as my default home screen?
Long-press any empty space on your home screen to open the menu and tap Set as
Default.
Alternatively:
Open device Settings → Apps → Default
Apps.
Tap Home app.
Select Laxi Launcher.
5. How do I find and unhide hidden apps?
You can access hidden apps in two ways:
Perform a 2-finger swipe up gesture on the home canvas.
Long-press empty space, select Show Hidden Apps, or open Hide
Apps to adjust your hidden app list.
6. Why does an app's font size grow or shrink?
Laxi Launcher dynamically adjusts font sizes based on usage: frequently opened apps grow larger over
time. To lock all apps to a uniform size:
Open Launcher Settings → Apps Settings.
Toggle Uniform App Size to [ON].
7. How do I customize colors, fonts, or shadows for a single app?
Long-press the specific app label on your home screen and select Label Settings:
Color: Pick any custom hex/RGB shade, or select Match App Icon Color to adapt the app's brand palette.
First Letter Color: Give the initial letter an exclusive highlight color.
Font & Size: Assign an individual font family, switch font casing, or pin an exact font size (10sp–72sp).
Text Shadow: Customize blur radius, offset, scale, and shadow color specifically for that label.
8. How do GPU background patterns and text shadows work?
Under Background Settings, you can select background patterns like Dot Grid or Honeycomb and adjust pattern scale, opacity, and line thickness. Under Apps Settings → Label Shadows, customize label shadows to make text pop over vibrant wallpapers or patterns.
9. Why did an uninstalled app remain on my screen, or a newly installed app not show up?
Certain OEM battery optimizers (such as MIUI/HyperOS, OxygenOS, or ColorOS) occasionally suspend background package broadcast listeners:
Long-press empty space on your home screen to open the menu.
Select Refresh App List or open Launcher Settings.
This forces an immediate direct synchronization with Android's system package registry.
10. Does Laxi Launcher require an internet connection?
No. Core launcher navigation, app indexing, pattern rendering, and visual customizations operate completely offline.
The only system communication that utilizes network connectivity is Google Play's own billing client if you choose to make an in-app purchase.
11. Can I reset my configurations without wiping everything?
Yes, Laxi Launcher provides dedicated reset options in each settings sub-menu:
Reset Apps Settings: Resets global app label colors, fonts, sizes, margins, and shadow configurations while keeping background options intact.
Reset Background: Resets wallpaper mode, dim level, solid color, and pattern settings.
Reset Gestures: Reverts gesture triggers back to default assignments.
Full Factory Reset: Tap Restore Defaults in the main Launcher Settings menu to revert all configurations to initial install state.
